The Italian Association of Zoo and
Wildlife Veterinarians (SIVAS Zoo) was founded in
2001 by a group of veterinarians with the goal of
consolidating existing collaboration between various
structures involving healthcare management of exotic and
wild animals. |
 |
SIVAS Zoo is a scientific and cultural association with
the aim of encouraging the continuing education of
members through exchange programmes, refresher courses,
conferences, seminars, and training courses pertaining
to veterinary medicine for wildlife and zoo animals.

The initiatives promoted
by the Association are:
-
To offer a concrete
contribution to the improvement of animal
well-being, both in the wild and in
captivity.

To promote new health
standards, guidelines and laws on species
management for exotic and wild animals.

To publish and
distribute informative materials in
technical and scientific fields.
-
To offer qualified,
specialised veterinary support to both
state and private institutions which
require it.
-
To encourage the
sharing of experience in a community
forum, promoting training and exchange
programmes for students and graduates from
different nations, in collaboration with
EAZVW (European Association Zoo and
Wildlife Veterinarians).
